Advantages Over Competitors
Our Raw Materials
Bathtub and shower materials must withstand harsh chemical cleaners, the
stress of the direct shower spray, the weight of many gallons of water,
and the constantly fluctuating wet and dry cycles. Why use acrylic?
(link) For the best waterproofing and low maintenance solution,
Bathwraps is proud to use 100% American made and manufactured acrylic.
Other companies cut corners by importing their material, which contains
up to 50% reused and inferior acrylic. Scraps of unused acrylic can be
reground, mixed with virgin material, and reprocessed into usable sheets.
This material is sandwiched between thin layers of virgin acrylic to
give the appearance of higher quality. Heating and forming reground
material and processing into new sheets reduces its tensile strength,
making it brittle and prone to cracking. Bathwraps is proud to offer
the highest percentage of virgin acrylic in the industry, which gives
our material a more pleasant feel and virtually eliminates the risk of cracking.
Other companies draw attention from their sub-standard materials by
advertising the addition of an anti-microbial to their raw materials,
which supposedly inhibits bacterial and mold growth.
The fact is that acrylic is a non-porous material and impervious to
moisture, which is a necessary component for bacterial and mold growth.
The EPA defines non-porous as: "smooth, unpainted solid surfaces that
limit penetration of liquid beyond the immediate surface [and] do not
absorb organic solvents." Acrylic is naturally resistant to bacterial
and mold, and the addition of an anti-microbial layer is an attempt
to add value to their inferior material.
Their cheap, recycled material has a shorter life expectancy, higher rate of
failure, and forces installation method compromises due to these shortcomings.
Our Trained Installation Method
Bathwraps has developed the Fusion Installation method to guarantee every
custom-fit bathtub or shower is water tight with no sagging, shifting, or
squeaking for the lifetime of the house. The main elements of the method
include corner reinforcements for the wall systems, a triple-lock seal for
maximum thermal expansion and water protection, grinding and priming the tub
for optimal adhesion, and an on-site cut and formed drain to ensure a truly custom fit.
Some companies cut corners when installing their product in order to speed
up the installation process and save money. They may use inferior silicone
with fillers, which reduces effectiveness and may actually provide food for
mold, and skip grinding the tub and heat-forming the drain. Bathwraps feels
that these steps are crucial to a successful lifetime installation.
Our Manufacturing Plant
Unlike many other companies, we do not outsource the production of our bathtubs
and showers, liners and other products. Our in-house factory allows us to
process your order accurately, quickly and seamlessly.
